First SUPPER winner!

Friends of Flagstaff's Future's Moran Henn won Saturday night's first SUPPER grant for project K.A.R.E.S. (Kids Art and Reading for Environment Sustainability). Moran took home $1,000 on behalf of Friends of Flagstaff's Future to realize her project. She'll present at the next SUPPER in the fall on the outcome of K.A.R.E.S., and she'll pass on the SUPPER fork to a new grant recipient.

Friend's of Flagstaff's Future's project has 4 parts:

1. They'll build a lending library of over 40 books for children at the Friends of Flagstaff's Future office located in downtown Flagstaff. Books will focus on sustainable communities, alternative energy, and more.

2. They'll organize a traveling library with story/reading time at locations such as Heritage Square, Flagstaff Family Food Center, and Community Farmers Market.

3. They'll develop workshops for children that applies knowledge they learn from reading time to recycled art projects, like making reusable grocery bags out of recycled T-shirts.

4. Then in August, they'll publicly present the bags that were created by kids throughout the summer and kick off Flagstaff's "Ban the Plastic" movement to make Flagstaff a plastic-bag free town.

Congratulations to Friends of Flagstaff's Future and Moran Henn and to all of the other SUPPER presenters! We were floored by the quality of the projects submitted for our very first SUPPER and we can't wait to see what else Flagstaff will present at the next event.
